The short version: there is no account, we run no servers for your data, and nothing you log reaches us. This page explains the details, including the one place where anything leaves your phone.
Everything you log lives on your device: meals, foods you save, weigh-ins, water, and your settings.
If you are signed into iCloud, that data also syncs through your own private iCloud database, so your phone and any future device of yours stay in step. That database belongs to your Apple account. We cannot read it, and neither can Apple's staff in the ordinary course. Turning iCloud off leaves Sigma working exactly as before, on device only.
Nothing.
There is no account to create, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting, no third-party SDKs, and no tracking of any kind. Sigma does not ask for your name, your email, or your age. We have no database with your name in it because we have no database.
When you search for a food, the words you type are sent to two public nutrition databases so they can answer the lookup:
Those requests carry your search text and nothing else. No account, no identifier, no history, nothing about you. We do not receive a copy, and Sigma keeps no record of what you searched. Their handling of ordinary web request data is governed by their own policies.
Everything else runs on your device, including reading a nutrition label or a menu from a photo, and turning a spoken meal into food entries. Those use Apple's on-device frameworks. No image and no audio is uploaded anywhere.
Choosing a photo of a label or a menu uses Apple's system picker, which runs outside Sigma. The app never gets access to your photo library; it receives only the single image you pick.

If you allow it, Sigma reads your body weight so your trends fill in without typing them twice, and reads active energy as a reference figure.
If you turn on "Write food to Health" in Settings, Sigma writes what you log (calories, protein, carbs, fat, fiber and water) into Apple Health so your other apps can see it. That is a copy handed to you, in your own Health store, not to us. Turning it off offers to delete everything Sigma wrote.
Health data is used on device only and is never transmitted anywhere by Sigma. The app works fully without Health access.
Export a CSV at any time from the Data tab. It contains your food log, your weigh-ins and your water, and Sigma can import the same file back, which is the real test of whether a file is yours.
"Wipe everything" on the Data tab deletes all of it from the device and from your iCloud database. There is nothing on our side to delete, because there is nothing on our side.
Sigma is not directed at children and collects nothing from anyone.
If this ever changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the previous text stays available in the app's public repository history. A policy that can be quietly rewritten is not a policy.
